Description

This coffee is produced by Jorge and Luis Carvajal who are both members of OCCICAFE co-op. By working with OCCICAFE, the farmers of La Plata have seen greater yields and higher quality, which, in turn, leads to a higher market value for their coffee. For this microlot, cherries were strictly picked with the same level of ripeness, exposed to a dry extended anaerobic formation of 38 hours and shadow-dried in parabolic beds to ideal moisture content.

This microlot is 100% Caturra. This cultivar is a natural mutation of the Red Bourbon and originated at Minas Gerais, Brazil. The Caturra varietal produces more yield and is more resistant to disease than Bourbon.

This coffee comes from the town of La Plata in Huila at the foothills of the Cordillera Central mountain range. A famed coffee producing region in southwest Colombia. The area surrounding La Plata is ideal for coffee production, with high elevations, plenty of rainfall and cool temperatures.
